Concurrent Enrollment (CE)

These are classes that are instructed at a college outside of a high school schedule. Through a partnership with Mohave Community College and Arizona Western College, LHHS is able to offer students the chance to be concurrently enrolled in both a full set of HS classes and a portion of MCC classes where the student will receive credit at both the HS and College level. WAVE Concurrent Enrollment courses are available to those who meet the limited entry requirements into the following programs. If you are interested, please visit your LHHS counselor, the LHHS Career Center, or www.wavejted.org.

Instructional Time Model (ITM)

Arizona Revised Statute 15-901.08 was modified by House Bill 2862 in 2021.  It allows for school districts to adopt differentiated instructional time models that allows students to meet the required instructional minutes prescribed in ARS 15-901 through in-person instruction, project-based learning, or independent learning.  In order to strengthen educational opportunities for Lake Havasu High School students, we are requesting that LHUSD adopt an instructional time model that allows for Lake Havasu High School 10th - 12th graders to utilize off campus instruction through a community college or university to take approved courses that are not offered on the Lake Havasu High School campus.

The adopted instructional time model through Arizona Department of Education would include the following:

Students enrolled in six courses may take up to two of those courses as three credit or more courses at a community college or university.  Students enrolled in less than six courses may take one of those as a three credit or more course at a community college or university.  Students must be enrolled in the course throughout the entire semester or be placed in a brick-and-mortar class on the LHHS campus.

Students may participate in on ground or online community college or university courses.  Counselors will work with students individually to build a class schedule for the LHHS campus based on each student’s schedule.  Students will work to obtain course credit by completing daily assignments.

Students will track attendance by having instructors sign an attendance log that will be turned in weekly.  Counselors will meet with students bi-weekly to ensure all assignments are completed.

LHUSD will set procedures and rules for LHHS students who choose to use the ITM:

After approval, Lake Havasu High School will develop procedures around what classes can be taken that are not offered on the LHHS campus, the registration process for these classes, and follow up during these classes to ensure that students are successful.

Lake Havasu High School has met with MCC and ASU about what classes are not offered at LHHS and would be allowable for students to take in lieu of an LHHS on ground class.  MCC and ASU classes will be offered to LHHS students at no or minimal cost plus books.
